Coffee grounds wet/coffee too weak

The coffee grounds are very wet and the coffee is too weak.

The brew unit filter is slightly blocked.

Clean the brew unit of the coffee machine once a week by hand.

Proceed as follows:

  • Disconnect the coffee machine from the mains.

  • Open the appliance door on the right-hand side of the coffee machine.

  • Pressing button and turning handle left | Brew unit | Countertop coffee machine
  • Press and hold the button at the bottom of the handle of the brew unit (1).

  • Whilst doing so, turn the handle to the left (2).

  • Carefully pull the brew unit out of the coffee machine.

  • When you have removed the brew unit, do not change the position of the handle on the brew unit.

Otherwise, the brew unit cannot be reinserted.

  • Clean the brew unit by hand under warm running water without using any cleaning agent. The moving parts of the brew unit are lubricated. Cleaning agents will damage the brew unit.

  • Wiping filters | Brew unit | Countertop coffee machine
  • Wipe any coffee grounds off the filters (see arrows).

  • Dry the funnel to prevent ground coffee sticking to it the next time a coffee is made.

  • Inserting cleaning tablet | Brew unit | Countertop coffee machine
  • Drop a cleaning tablet into the top of the brew unit (arrow).

  • Push the brew unit with cleaning tablet back into the coffee machine, making sure it goes in straight.

  • Pressing button and turning handle right | Brew unit | Countertop coffee machine
  • Press and hold the button at the bottom of the handle of the brew unit (1).

  • Whilst doing so, turn the handle to the right (2).

  • Close the appliance door.

  • Clean the brew unit with the cleaning tablet for degreasing using the Degrease brew unit or Clean brew unit maintenance programme.

Set the quantity of coffee to medium or select the factory default setting.

You can set the quantity of coffee in the menu Drinks -> Edit -> Change drink -> Drink parameters -> Quantity of coffee.

  • Open the appliance door on the right-hand side of the coffee machine.

  • Adjusting | Degree of grinding | Countertop coffee machine
  • Push the slide control a maximum of one level to the left (for finer grinding) or to the right (for coarser grinding).

  • Close the appliance door.

  • Make one cup of coffee.

Adjust the degree of grinding again, if required.
