The Miele solution for the reprocessing of robotic instruments – The new reprocessing system ROBOTVARIO from Miele Professional comprises a specially developed loading trolley, a new reprocessing programme and the appropriate process chemicals.
Reprocessing robotic instruments
The complexity of robotic instruments for minimally invasive surgery places high demands on the safe and reliable reprocessing of the instruments. The new reprocessing system ROBOTVARIO from Miele Professional comprises a specially developed loading trolley, a new reprocessing programme and the appropriate process chemicals. Thus Miele Professional offers an innovative solution for the safe and effective cleaning and disinfection of robotic instruments.
The E 428 and E928 loading trollies, which can be used with the Miele PG 8536 and PG8528 washer-disinfectors, are suitable for cleaning up to 6 shafted instruments. There are two connections for each of these instruments, for the separate flushing through of the control unit and of the shaft interior with the critical area of the distal end.
The procedure
The newly developed reprocessing programme, which lasts just a little longer than one hour, does not need a pre-rinse cycle. First of all the robotic instruments are filled with the cleaning agent recommended by Miele for half an hour, whereby any organic residues are degraded. There then follows the optional removal of any coarse and/or coagulated residues at the work ends, before the instrument is connected to the E 428. The following machine procedure ensures safe and reliable disinfection:
- Approximately 30 minutes at 45 °C
- Intensive interim rinses
- Thermal disinfection at 90 °C
- Drying at 100 °C
Fully demineralised water is used in all the programme steps. This prevents any residues from being left behind, particularly in the critical inner area of the instruments, and thus ensures a safe cleaning result as well as safety for patients.
